Therapy for Nervous Systems overwhelmed by “Just Try Harder

Neurodivergent-Affirming Therapy for ADHD, Autism, and OCD in Adults

You Might Be Here Because…

You may identify as ADHD, autistic, OCD, or otherwise neurodivergent — or be exploring these diagnoses later in life. You might be highly thoughtful, self-aware, and able to explain your experiences, yet still feel overwhelmed, stuck, or shut down when demands increase.

Many neurodivergent adults are told their struggles are about motivation, rigidity, avoidance, or anxiety. In reality, these responses often reflect nervous system overload, loss of autonomy, or environments that require constant self-override.

How I Work

One of my core strengths as a therapist is pattern recognition. Rather than focusing only on symptoms or diagnoses, I pay close attention to how nervous system responses, internal parts, compulsions, avoidance, relationships, and environmental demands interact over time.

This is especially important in work with ADHD, Autism, and OCD, where distress is often misunderstood or oversimplified. Together, we map patterns so that insight becomes grounding and usable — not something you’re left holding on your own.

A Neurodivergent-Affirming Approach

I work from a non-pathologizing, neurodivergent-affirming framework that understands ADHD, autism, OCD, and related neurotypes as differences in nervous system functioning — not deficits to be corrected.

  • ADHD and chronic overwhelm or burnout
  • Autism and sensory, social, or demand-related stress
  • OCD when control, certainty, or rigidity feel protective
  • Demand avoidance, shutdown, or internal conflict
  • Anxiety that worsens under pressure or expectations
  • The overlapping ways ADHD, autism, and OCD can interact and amplify each other — especially around control, uncertainty, and nervous system overload

When Therapy Hasn’t Fully Helped Before

This work tends to resonate with neurodivergent adults who want therapy that:

Many of my clients have been in therapy before. They often found insight helpful but incomplete — or felt misunderstood by approaches that focused on behavior, exposure, or skills without attending to nervous system capacity and context.

  • Accounts for how their brain actually works
  • Understands resistance and avoidance as protective
  • Looks at systems and environments, not just symptoms
  • Respects autonomy and internal consent

This May Be a Good Fit If You…

  • Identify as ADHD, autistic, OCD, AuDHD, 2e, or neurodivergent
  • Feel overwhelmed by expectations or pressure
  • Notice shutdown, avoidance, or rigidity under demand
  • Want understanding before strategies
  • Have tried therapy before and want something more nuanced

This may not be the right fit if you’re seeking highly directive treatment, behavioral compliance, or rapid symptom change as the primary focus.

Private-Pay & Out-of-Network Therapy

I offer therapy on a private-pay, out-of-network basis. This allows for individualized care, flexibility, and freedom from diagnostic or productivity-driven constraints. Documentation for out-of-network reimbursement can be provided when applicable.
